It isn’t breaking news that cargo pants are having a moment, but what is exciting is all the elevated iterations that are available to buy at every price point. From fluid satin to more structured pairs with zips and gaping pockets, there’s pretty much a different style to suit every shape and occasion.
I spotted this pair in Zara, and after a quick try on, had to buy them immediately. When it comes to trousers Zara can be a little hit and miss with size and fit, however, whatever they did this time around with these trousers – they nailed it.
This week their Studio Collection also dropped which includes this chocolate brown satin top. It cleverly sculpts and nips in all the right places which is essential when wearing wide leg trousers like cargos to give your waist some definition. It’s also thick enough and high enough under the arms too, to not have to worry about a bra – hurrah.
How to style them? Well, the key to feeling polished and making sure cargo pants are flattering is to wear them with a pointed toe shoe. On this occasion I would wear this outfit to dinner or for drinks with friends so have added a kitten heel for a bit of height, but even if you need to wear flats the pointed toe is essential for elongating the leg. I love the mix of chocolate brown with the turquoise statement bag (avoid any fussy long shoulder straps or it will clash with the structure of the top) and with a lot of points of interest in this outfit, no further accessories are required.
