Just In: Jigsaw’s Trench Coat

Finding the perfect trench isn’t as easy as you would expect. For me, there are key requirements that must be met and this Jigsaw trench ticks all the boxes:

Length: It can’t be too long, or you’ll be cleaning the streets with the hem, especially when you sit down on public transport. But too short and it won’t be easy to layer over different outfits.

Fabric: There are some beautiful trench coats but if the fabric is too delicate it will mark and pull easily. Most importantly if it isn’t water resistant or in an outerwear fabric you’ll find you won’t wear it that often.

Volume: On designer catwalks, for the past couple of seasons, the trench coat has been voluminous or deconstructed but detailed design can come with a heavy price tag. If you’re looking to buy into this look but on a smaller budget, try sizing up to give volume and create a more luxurious aesthetic.

Storm flap: I love a storm flap as it’s an additional design detail that is very flattering as it defines the waist and draws the eye in, nipping in the waist, and creating shape where needed.
